Imported from the pre-Redmine CookieMonsters TODO during the 2026-08-29 migration.
Original priority: P1 — Community experience and polish
- SITE-WIDE POSTING TOOLING — treat Emoji and GIF as one reusable CookieMonsters posting capability, not a Wall-only or chat-only feature:
- whenever CookieMonsters presents a composer where a member can publish/post user-generated content, the standard composer should be able to expose the same working Emoji picker and searchable GIF picker unless a specific surface has a deliberate safety/product reason not to;
- this applies to Profile Wall / News Feed posts now, and should also apply to forum topics/posts, forum replies, comments, Show Room posts/descriptions where appropriate, event discussions/comments later, community posts and other future post/reply composers;
- design this as a shared site-wide post composer capability/component so new posting surfaces inherit Emoji/GIF support by default rather than each feature having to request/rebuild it separately;
- the Emoji picker inserts at the current cursor/selection; the GIF picker returns a previewable/removable pending GIF attachment that can be combined with text and emoji before publishing;
- each surface keeps its own audience, moderation, SFW/NSFW, block, edit/delete, retention and notification rules; Emoji/GIF tooling must inherit those rules and never weaken them;
- GIF media/URLs/previews must not leak hidden/private content through feeds, notifications, APIs or direct assets when the parent post/comment/reply is not visible to the viewer;
- reuse the same provider/search integration, safety filtering, accessibility, keyboard/touch behaviour, caching/proxy policy and translation-ready labels across chat and all post composers wherever technically appropriate;
- future posting features should opt out explicitly if Emoji/GIF is unsuitable, rather than requiring every new feature to opt in manually.
